After everything Alex had just needed to get away from Vegas. Too much hurt was associated with that place now. He figured the only way to move on was to literally move away from it. He was working private security again, he was good at it. He lived in a nice little house that he spent his free time fixing up because he bought it for just that reason. It gave him a project to work on when he needed to just disconnect.

Tonight he was just living the simple bachelor life, heating up something to eat quick with the tv on in the background. He did wonder time to time what people were doing, certain people anyway. Then again living his life in a place like Hawaii was a nice change from Vegas.

It had taken Cassandra some time, and some time that she had been pulled away to other things, but she eventually found out where Alex had gone to. He had done a good job covering his tracks but even he couldn't outsmart her. She tracked him down and took a flight from Las Vegas to see him.

It wasn't an easy decision to make. She didn't know if he would want to see her, and she was unsure about piercing that veil. He believed that he was safe now and away from his past and her showing up in front of him would take that feeling away from him. But selfishly the fact that she missed him, and wanted to see if he was okay and happy, won out.

She walked up the front steps scoping out the house as she did. Dressed down now in jeans and a blouse, there was no need for all that makeup and glamour anymore. It was just her going to see an old friend, that was what she told herself as she knocked lightly on his door. And if he wanted her to leave she would, but she had to at least see if he was all right.

"Alex."

She saw that look and knew what it was for. Putting her hands up so he could see she wasn't hiding anything.

"There's no one else here. I just came to see if you're all right." An awkward pause. "But I can leave if you don't want to see me. I'll understand."

She walked inside, still a bit awkwardly as she looked around. The place was so totally different from his apartment. At least now he had proper door locks.

"I don't know what I'm supposed to say to you," she admitted. "You left and you didn't even say goodbye."

But she couldn't blame him for leaving. She'd leave if she thought she could.

"I don't know if I'm more upset at you or upset that you'd think I wouldn't notice."

She admitted, taking the soda from him and settling on his couch. Looking up at him somewhere between sadness and guilt.

"Considering the last time we saw each other was supposed to be our first date," she recalled. "I'd hope that you would know how I felt about you. Still feel about you."

"Well you could have at least left a note. Or an actual clue how to find you."

She exhaled, not moving away from him but not sure what she was supposed to do with her hands either.

"Are you happy here? Everything is all right?"

She hadn't come across any potential threats to his existence but still. She wanted to hear it from him that he had a fresh start and was happy with where he had ended up.

"That's good."

She paused and eyed him. She didn't think there was any room in his life for her. Not with the way they had left things, and why would she come here and upset all that he had built for himself?

"I just wanted to see if you were all right. Now that I know you are, I'll leave by tomorrow. Rest assured no one else will ever find out where you are. That's the least I can do for you."

For her part she was still in Las Vegas, still working, but that was because she had nowhere else to go and no one else to be with. If she quit the game she'd just be unemployed, homeless and alone. So she stayed though she did muster a smile.

"I'm glad you got out."

She hadn't expected him to do that but she was glad that he did. She leaned in and kissed him back a little firmer, letting her eyes drift shut as she fell into it. It was clear she was still very much in love with him but that was also why she was willing to walk away from him. If it was what was best for him she'd do it, even as she just wanted to jump him right there on that couch and stake her claim to him all over again.

It absolutely wasn't helping her at all. She kissed him firmly, making clear exactly how she felt about him as her hands began to relearn his body over again. When she finally came up for air he'd hear her say words against his mouth that they had never said but that had secretly always been true. She felt he deserved to hear it now.

"I love you."

"It's not that easy," she protested, pulling back just enough to look at him. "You know if I leave they'll take everything. My bank accounts, my apartment. I can't just start over like you."

"Would you want that?"

Cassandra knew he wouldn't say that if he didn't mean it. But she wanted to hear it from him.

"It's not exactly as if I'm employable. I'd likely be living on your couch with you having to support both of us until I could find a job. And I don't even know where I would start. I can't really ask for a reference, now can I?"

That shut her up. She was kissing him back, her fingers reaching down and tugging his shirt free from his jeans, pushing the fabric up so she could get her hands underneath and on his bare skin. She needed to feel him and also to know that he was in one piece. Although she might knock a few things off his couch in the process.
